Hi, I'm Teacher Reed
I'm an American English teacher from California. I studied at California State University, Chico, where I earned a double bachelor's degree in Communication and Spanish, and I learned a second language myself, so I know what it feels like to be the student.
I have 12 years of teaching experience across 20+ countries on four continents, including 8 years teaching online. My classes are built around real conversation: interesting topics, lots of speaking time, and a relaxed space where students feel comfortable taking risks and asking questions.

Students speak most of the class. They build fluency, confidence, and a feel for how English is really used.

English Speaking Club: Discovering Hugo
A weekly adventure through The Invention of Hugo Cabret, the story of a 12-year-old boy, plus the movie Hugo. We build vocabulary, reading, writing, and speaking together, and it goes perfectly with private classes.

Meet Teacher Reed
I've been teaching English since 2018, and most of my students today are children in China. In 2025 I visited some of my students and their families in China, which was a real highlight. I'm trained to teach young learners and to teach online, and I also speak Spanish, so I know what it's like to learn a second language myself.
I taught on VIPKid (2018–2021), iTutor, and other top platforms before starting English Elevator.
